Full course description

This course is designed for GPs and Practice Nurses. It runs between January and April and consists of twelve distance learning weeks with two workshop days on Saturdays. Each Unit requires self-directed learning and participation in discussion boards providing case studies and clinical management questions which are moderated by clinical tutors on Canvas each week. Units cover: Unit Content: 12 week total Assessment of Cardiovascular Risk (1 week) Management of Hypertension (2 weeks) Hyperlipidaemia (1 week) Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Stroke Prevention (2 weeks) Ischaemic Heart Disease and Valvular Heart Disease (2 weeks) Diagnosis and Management of Heart Failure (2 weeks) Management of Syncope. Sudden Cardiac Death (1 week) CVD and Women’s Health (1 week) 2 x Study Day Content: Lifestyle and risk factors, ECGs, cardiac rehabilitation, anticoagulation in AFib, blood pressure management
